Lee Labrada: The 12 Week Lean Body Program

I’m terrible at blogging, I forget, things get in the way, and more often than not… I’d rather be watching Doctor Who. I’ve been documenting most of what I’ve been eating all year. Fat loss has been quite the project (more of an experiment) this year. I’ve done low carb, carb cycling, raw veganism, and various other “macro management” while trying to pinpoint what works best and yields the most optimal results. So far in 2013 I’ve lost 17 pounds. I’ve had highs and lows and many moments where I thought to myself: “fuck it, maybe I’ll just be fat.” That being said, I’m more mentally focused than ever and I’m ecstatic that what I’ve done has worked! I started out doing a traditional bodybuilding body part split, plateaued FOR WHAT FELT LIKE AN ETERNITY, tried upper/ lower splits, and then (to my horror) considered only doing cardio. I was desperate. I decided to put my faith into another program (Jamie Eason will be missed), so I looked to Lee Labrada’s 12 week trainer for …

Core or bust

Today I did this lower body circuit. It went okay.. I did intervals of 3.7/8.5. I did captive lunges instead of using the dumbbells and I used 10 lb dumbbells on the standing calf raises. It was a nightmare. I definitely had to take breaks in a “don’t fall over” sorta way. Begrudgingly I got through it, and I feel better for having done so. But damn, cardio-leg day is not anything I’ve ever done. In fact usually I don’t do any cardio whatsoever on leg day. So the hiit training really tore me up. I got after it though, and I can’t wait for tomorrow.

Training? Continued…

I just had my training session with Ron! It was great, and completely terrifying. Lesson of the year, ask whether or not someone is a strongman before you agree to workout with them. He did my body fat and measurements, which are: Weight: 159 % body fat: 19.1 Neck: 13 Chest: 35 Biceps-R/L: 12 -12 Forearm-R/L: 10 – 9 1/2 Waist: 30 1/2 Hip: 36 Upper thigh – R/L: 23 1/2 -23 1/2 Calf – R/L: 14 – 14 We talked about goals and I told him I’d like to compete in bikini and figure eventually. He said I didn’t have far to go and that was totally reasonable. I can’t begin to tell you how good it felt to admit a seemingly impossible goal to someone and have them be like “ok, totally that’s easy!” Not only that but he let me know that since I’m in “good shape” he’d be training me like he would an athlete. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR RIGHT?!?! Eat your heart out! So I explained my financial situation and …
